Estas son las únicas bombas que deberían existir en el mundo. 

La idea de lanzar semillas en cápsulas desde el aire no es nueva, sin embargo, no se había podido hacer realidad debido a la tecnología. La siembra a través de este método de bombardear con semillas puede reducir a la mitad el coste respecto a métodos de plantación manuales.

Además, se aprovecha aviones que sólo se utilizan en caso de guerra y se les da un propósito positivo. Hay 2,500 bombarderos C-130 en setenta países, esperando una oportunidad para volar. Mejor que sea para arrojar semillas que para tirar bombas. La empresa ha calculado que pueden lanzar más de 3,000 bombas de semillas por minuto. Eso significa, plantar 900.000 árboles en una jornada.

Las bombas de semillas son puntiagudas y están diseñadas para que se entierren en el suelo a la profundidad adecuada, como si hubieran sido plantadas a mano.

Alojado en plástico biodegradable, el suelo artificial proporciona alimento y humedad a la semilla; hasta que crezca para ser una planta lo suficientemente fuerte como para sostenerse. A medida que el retoño madura, la cápsula de plástico se derrite, dejando una nueva generación.

Es una iniciativa única para combatir el calentamiento global: reforestaciones masivas para crear bosques que absorban carbono.

Algunas regiones que están apostando por probar el nuevo método son el desierto del Sinaí en Egipto, regiones del Bosque Negro talados durante la Guerra Fría en Alemania, además de África del Norte, Canadá, Australia y Estados Unidos.
