El dueño de la tienda comprendió la situación de necesidad por la que el joven pasaba y decidió ayudarlo de la manera más increíble.

Jitendra Singh cuidaba de su mercadería en Toledo, en el estado de Ohio, EE. UU., cuando uno de sus empleados le advirtió sobre la actividad sospechosa de un joven.

Al revisar las filmaciones de las cámaras de seguridad, Singh vio que el joven estaba sigilosamente tirando algunos bocadillos mientras vagaba por los pasillos.

Cuando el adolescente se acercó al mostrador, Singh le pidió que revelara todas las mercancías escondidas en su ropa, de lo contrario llamaría a la policía.

El adolescente respondió diciendo que sólo estaba robando comida porque él y su hermano más joven tenían hambre y no tenía nada que comer.

En reacción a la respuesta del joven, el tendero le dijo al adolescente que tomara pizzas, sándwiches, frutas y carnes de los pasillos que podría llevar a casa de forma gratuita.

Cedric Bishop, que es un cliente regular en la tienda, presenció el sorprendente hecho. Más tarde, describió el incidente en un post en Facebook, elogiando al propietario por su gentileza.

“El operador de caja ya estaba llamando a la policía cuando el propietario le dijo que colgara”, relata Bishop. El dueño entonces habría dicho al adolescente: “Eso no es comida. Quieres comida, yo te daré comida”.

El propio Bishop también se sintió inspirado y donó al muchacho varias bolsas con alimentos de los más variados que acababa de comprar, además de 10 dólares que tenía en el bolsillo.

“Creo que el dueño de la tienda de comestibles hizo algo simplemente increíble”, dijo. “Algunos jóvenes sólo necesitan saber que alguien se preocupa por ellos”.

Singh, por otro lado, fue muy indiferente sobre su buena acción. Desde que abrió la tienda hace cinco años, él dice que siempre intenta usar su posición para ayudar a la comunidad y esa fue sólo otra oportunidad para ayudar a alguien en necesidad.

“No va a hacer ninguna diferencia para mí si le doy algo de comida, porque tenemos mucha comida, vendemos mucha comida”, dijo. “En cambio, si es arrestado, definitivamente no hará nada bueno en la vida”.

Gente de todo el mundo está aplaudiendo la acción de este hombre que ayudó a un joven en lugar de perjudicarlo.
